Beginner Piano Lessons for Singers
Get up and running as a piano-playing singer right from your very first lesson

Be the piano-playing singer you dream of.
Have you often admired those artists who can play the piano and sing at the same time? Like Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor and John Legend – to name just a few.
Perhaps you’ve wondered whether it’s something you could do too – but you’ve never quite found the time – or the right teacher – to make it happen.
Maybe, getting a few moments to yourself to sit down at the piano and sing would feel magical. Or, perhaps you can see yourself performing at open mics, or jamming with friends.
Well, you’ve come to the right place. I’m here to make everything easy for you, and to show you just how joyful this journey can be.
I’ll help you get there quicker
My method of teaching piano is different. It’s designed specifically to help you become a piano-playing singer. And it does that quickly because you want to be playing and singing now – not once you’ve passed all the grades, or learned hundreds of pieces.
Many students are surprised by how quickly they become piano-playing singers. There’s no long, hard slog with the distant promise of (one day) being able to play and sing something. Instead, you’re just mastering song, after song, at your own pace and level.

Here’s how we’ll work together:
1
I’ll invite you to answer a few simple questions
Your answers will help me understand your goals and your starting point. This means we can hit the ground running from your very first lesson!
2
Choose a song to learn
Pick from a list of 100 songs that are suitable for beginners. Just let me know what kind of music you’re into, and I will guide you to the song that’s right for you.
3
I’ll teach you to play and sing that song
Using my three step method, I’ll get you playing and singing your song in no time. First, I’ll teach you the chords and how to fit them into your singing.
Then, I’ll teach you a simple, but effective, accompaniment pattern based on either rhythmic block chords, or flowing broken chords. I’ll break down the co-ordination between the singing and the piano – so you know exactly how to put the two together.
Once you’ve got the basic accompaniment nailed, you can start to add in some extra little details. This is the fun bit – where your creativity can start to shine. Whether it’s changing up your accompaniment slightly for one section of the song, or adding a little flourish to the piano part – you can start to make the song your own.
4
I’ll teach you to play and sing another song…
Once you’ve learned a few songs, you’ll find yourself getting the hang of the basics – and you’ll probably be surprised at how quickly you can start to add your own touches to your piano accompaniments. More and more songs will lie within your reach – and you’ll notice yourself feeling more ‘at home’ whilst playing and singing.
What you’ll learn:
- The common chords that will allow you to play hundreds of songs.
- Different shapes you can use to play each chord, making chord changes feel easier and more fluent.
- Simple (but effective) piano accompaniment patterns that can be used to play many songs.
- How to add your own touches to your piano parts.
- Tools to help you sing and play at the same time.
