Would it feel magical to have a few moments to sit down at the piano and sing? Perhaps you can see yourself sharing music with friends, performing, or simply doing something that’s just for you.
Welcome! I’m here to make everything easy for you, and to show you how joyful this journey can be.
How we’ll work together

Choose a song
You’ll choose from a carefully curated selection of songs suitable for complete beginners. These songs will gently ease you into playing and singing at the same time. The songs span a variety of genres and decades, so there’s something for everyone.

Learn to play and sing your first song
First, I’ll teach you how to play the chords for your chosen song on the piano. I’ll show you how to choose chord shapes that fit comfortably under your hands, and how to move easily from one chord to another.
Because we’ll start in a very simple way, it probably won’t take you long (perhaps even a matter of minutes!) to get a flow going.
Then, line by line, you’ll start to sing and play the chords at the same time. By listening to my bitesize demonstrations, you’ll be able to put the two together yourself – step by step.

Start to build your piano parts
Once you’ve got the basics under your belt, you’ll find yourself ready for the next challenge.
Now, you can take your chords, and start to transform them into something slightly more elaborate.
You’ll learn how to play the notes of the chord individually, creating rising and falling patterns under your fingertips. You’ll get to grips with creating simple grooves – adding energy and life to your song.
You’ll even be able to make simple choices about how you want your piano part to sound. You might ask yourself, ‘Do I want my notes to go up or down here? Do I want to play this chord once or twice here?’ You’ll be able to experiment, and choose the version you like best.

Hundreds of songs at your fingertips
Whilst you were learning your first handful of songs, you were gathering tools that will enable you to accompany yourself singing hundreds of different songs.
How is this possible? Well, you’ve started to get to grips with how chords work. You’ve got used to working out which notes are in which chords. You know the tricks that make it easy to move between them. And, you can actually use the same piano patterns you’ve already learned to accompany yourself singing many different songs.
There are many songs that contain simple chords. The question is, which one next?

Start With a Taster Lesson
Starting piano lessons can feel like a big step. A taster lesson is a relaxed way to experience what lessons are really like — with no pressure to continue afterwards.
You can learn with me online from wherever you are. Many students are surprised by how enjoyable and effective online lessons actually are. I’ll help you get everything set up before your first lesson, so everything feels easy.
Or, you can have in person lessons at my home studio in central Bristol – just a stones throw from the SS Great Britain in Bristol Harbourside. Come and play my acoustic piano, in a calm and welcoming space. Cuddles with a friendly whippet are an optional extra!
1 hour — £40
Lesson packages
After your taster session, lessons can be bought in packages of five. A package of 5 x 1 hour lessons costs £290. Payment may be split into two instalments.
All five lessons must be taken within 12 teaching weeks from the date of the first lesson.
You are very welcome to add more lessons to your package. These can be bought individually at £55 per lesson. You can add these on at any point during your 12 week teaching period.
Lesson times
Lessons are available Monday-Friday between 9am-1pm & 3pm-7pm and can be booked flexibly at times to suit you.
