Learn to accompany yourself at the piano, singing songs that speak to your soul.

Online and in-person. All voices welcome!

Lose yourself in a song

Imagine taking a few moments to sit down at the piano keys.

You start to sing a song you love. Perhaps it’s something by your favourite artist. Or maybe, it’s a song you’ve written yourself.

As you sing, your hands flow easily across the piano. The keys feel comfortable and natural under your fingers. Your voice blends beautifully with the sounds of the piano. For a few minutes, you lose yourself.

If this sounds like something you’d love to do, then you’ve come to the right place. All you need are the right kind of piano lessons to help you get there.

Learn how to…

Play chords

Chords are the key to accompanying yourself at the piano. If you can play the chords of a song then you have an accompaniment. It’s as simple as that! I’ll help you understand how chords work – and show you the tricks to make them easy.

Build your own piano parts

If you can create your own piano accompaniments, you’ll be able to play more of the songs you love. I’ll show you how simple – and enjoyable – it can be to build your own piano accompaniments.

Sing & play at the same time

It feels good when you can effortlessly weave your singing with the piano. Strong rhythm and coordination skills are the key – and I’ll help you improve both.

Start With a Taster Lesson

Starting piano lessons can feel like a big step. A taster lesson is a relaxed way to experience what lessons are really like — with no pressure to continue afterwards.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already play, I’ll meet you exactly where you are.

You can learn with me online from wherever you are. Many students are surprised by how enjoyable and effective online lessons actually are. I’ll help you get everything set up before your first lesson, so everything feels easy.

Or, you can have in person lessons at my home studio in central Bristol – just a stones throw from the SS Great Britain in Bristol Harbourside. Come and play my acoustic piano, in a calm and welcoming space. Cuddles with a friendly whippet are an optional extra!

About me

Hi, I’m Claire. .I was a teenager when I first began teaching myself to accompany myself singing. I loved to sing and I could already play the piano, but I couldn’t put them together. My years of classical piano lessons meant I could play Mozart or Beethoven – but I didn’t know how to accompany myself.

Over many years, I gradually collected all of the knowledge and tools I needed (you can read more about how I did this here). Eventually, I was able to achieve my two main goals; to perform professionally as a singer-pianist and to be able to accompany myself at the piano singing songs that I’d written.

Now, I love working with other people who love to sing. I know that typical piano lessons don’t give you the skills you need. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to help singers learn to accompany themselves at the piano with flow and ease.
